From Cheyenne to House District 22:
2026 Legislative Session Recap Letter

To the People of District 22,
As the session comes to an end, I wanted to give you one last update.
I continue to be baffled that leadership is claiming any victories this session related to the school recalibration bill or the budget.
The school recalibration bill that came out of the interim committee died two times on introduction on the House side because it was a bad bill. The Senate brought a late mirror bill, which was heavily amended by Senator Rothfuss, subsequently amended further in the House, and ultimately passed. Was it perfect? No, but I was proud to support it. Its success had nothing to do with the freedom caucus or House leadership and everything to do with collaboration and compromise. Details matter.
The Joint Appropriations Budget wasn’t much different. It was drafted poorly, with little logic or care for reality, and intended to hurt our everyday way of life in Wyoming. Some of the committee members admitted to being given scripts to read during drafting of the bill and had little to no knowledge of what was actually in it. Once again, the Senate passed solid amendments that made the budget better. When the bill made it to the joint conference committee between House and Senate members, the House caved to the majority of Senate positions and we got a fiscally conservative budget passed. Zero to do with the freedom caucus or House leadership. Details matter.
Thank you for tuning in. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about myself, the legislative session, or how to get involved in my campaign.
Pay attention. Get informed.
Best,
Andrew
